Transfers

We expect that your accommodation will be suitable for the duration of your studies at Columbia. However, should you have a reason to transfer, you may submit a transfer application.

Filing an application for transfer does not guarantee that the request will be approved; transfers are granted depending on unit availability and the reason for the request.

Transfer applications are not accepted between May and September because of the high volume of incoming students for the fall semester.

Transfers are only approved for accommodations which are vacant and which are not otherwise assigned.

Eligibility Criteria for All Transfer Applicants

1. You must be a current UAH tenant
2. You must be a full time student
3. You must be up-to-date on rent payments for your current UAH unit

Types of Housing Transfers

1. The Transfer Lottery process is used when you want to transfer into an unspecified vacant apartment, room or dormitory unit. Transfer Lottery applications are accepted during the first five business days of October and March. The Transfer Lottery Applications and Guidelines are available online.
2. Room to Room Transfers are used when you want to transfer into a specific room in an apartment share or dormitory style building. Applications are accepted between September 15 and April 15. Room to Room Transfer Applications and Guidelines are available online.
