Biography
Ellen Baker, assistant professor, specializes in labor history, American women's history, and the history of the American West. She received her B.A. from Barnard College in 1989 and her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin/Madison in 1999. Her publications include "Wisconsin Economists and New Deal Agricultural Policy," with Jess Gilbert, Wisconsin Magazine of History, 80:4 (Summer 1997). She is currently writing a history of a New Mexican mining conflict and its dramatization in the film Salt of the Earth.
