Ivy Corps, an Ivy Council enterprise, strives to promote awareness and enthusiasm for community assistance initiatives at the Ivy League schools.  We endeavor to give back to the communities that have supported us in our journey.  Every student has a responsibility to advance the lives of those truly in need, sustain the neighborhoods to which the students belong, and develop the leaders of tomorrow.  Furthermore, we recognize the integral role that community service plays in the formative experience of an undergraduate education.

Ivy Corps seeks to bring together students, faculty, alumni, and staff of all the Ivy League schools with the local community in an effort to increase volunteerism, strengthen school and community ties, and foster life-long connections with service groups.  In 2004, we will engage leaders from all the Ivy League schools in a collaborative community service event across eight schools and involving over 8,000 volunteers.  This event will fulfill our organizational mission:

·        Support and assist our local communities

·        Infuse Ivy League undergraduates with a sense of social responsibility

·        Redefine the term community by connecting eight schools and thousands of individuals in a cooperative effort, thus cultivating ties between the local neighborhoods, students, staff, and alumni of diverse and multifarious institutions spanning seven states

·        Strengthen existing community service programs

We head into the 2003-2004 year with excitement and determination.  Through the efforts of each member school, and the Ivy Corps team’s energetic pursuit, we will make this year’s Ivy Corps event a memorable and meaningful experience.
