DIRECTIONS TO THE JEWISH THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY

JTS is located at 3080 Broadway, the corner of 122nd Street and Broadway in Manhattan.

1. BY CAR (Coming from South or West):
 
      Cross the George Washington Bridge and take the Henry Hudson parkway south towards downtown. Take the 125th street exit. Turn left onto 125th street. Proceed to Broadway. (Broadway runs directly under the overhead train tracks.) Turn right onto Broadway and continue to 122nd Street. JTS is on the left side of Broadway at 122nd Street.

2. BY CAR (Coming from North):

A. Take the New York Thruway (Route 87) to Cross Bronx Expressway in the direction of the George Washington Bridge. Bear right as you approach the bridge and take the exit for the Henry Hudson Parkway south. Proceed as above (#1).

B. New England Thruway (I-95) becomes Cross Bronx Expressway. Proceed as above.

C. Saw Mill River Parkway south or Cross County Parkway west to Henry Hudson Parkway south. Proceed as above.

3. BY CAR (coming from East):

Cross the Tri-borough Bridge and follow signs to 125th street (straight off of bridge). Follow 125th street all the way to the West Side. This street is very busy and has many traffic lights; please allow half an hour for this. Turn left on Broadway. (Broadway runs directly under the overhead train tracks.) Continue to 122nd Street. JTS is on the left side of Broadway at 122nd Street.

4. FROM PENN STATION (or see taxi directions):

Underneath the train station is the subway. Follow signs for the Numbers 1 and 9 trains (also called the Broadway Local). Take the No. 1 or the No. 9 trains uptown and gets off at the “116th Street – Columbia University” station (11 stops). At 116th street, exit the subway and walk uptown (north) on Broadway to 122nd street. (Uptown is the direction you will be facing when you put Columbia University on your right). JTS is on the N.E. corner of Broadway and 122nd street.

5. FROM PORT AUTHORITY (or see taxi directions):

Underneath the bus terminal is the subway. Follow the signs for the Numbers 1 and 9 trains (Broadway Local). Board the No. 1 or No. 9 uptown and get off at the “116th Street/Columbia University” station (10 stops). Follow walking directions from Penn Station above.

6. FROM GRAND CENTRAL STATION (or see taxi directions):

Follow signs for the Cross-town shuttle (the “S”). Take the shuttle one stop to 42nd Street/Times Square. Follow the signs to transfer to the No. 1 or No. 9, Broadway Local Uptown. Follow directions from the “Port Authority” above.

7. BY TAXI FROM PENN STATION, PORT AUTHORITY OT GRAND CENTRAL:

        If you are traveling with two or three people, a taxi might be preferable to the subway. In New York taxis are hailed from the side of the street. Metered rates are presently $1.50 for the first eighth of a mile and $.25 for each additional eighth of a mile. There is also a $.50 surcharge between 8:00 and 6:00 a.m. It is customary to tip the driver 15% of the meter. Take the taxi to 122nd street and Broadway where you will find JTS.

8. FROM JFK OR LAGUARDIA AIRPORTS:

       It is the quickest to take a taxi from the airport. If you’d rather go cheaper, take the Carey Bus from outside the terminal at the airport to the Port Authority (the main bus station) in Manhattan. The bus leaves the airport every ½ hour and takes 1 hour from JFK ($8.00) or 45 minutes from LaGuardia ($6.00 one way). Then follow directions above under Port Authority.

9. FROM NEWARK AIRPORT:

       Taxi is the fastest but will cost about $30.00. A less costly option is to take the New Jersey transit bus from outside the terminal to the Port Authority in Manhattan. The bus leaves the airport every 15 minutes and takes about ½ hour to reach Manhattan. Cost is about $7.00 each way. The follow directions under Port Authority.
