Dear e-mail user: I wish to inform you of a new e-mail service at Columbia, to be called the Jewish Electronic Calendar. The Jewish Student Union of Columbia University provides many services, including a large calendar of events, especially of those events that are Jewish in nature. My hope is to provide the recipients of this electronic calendar, with a more concise, up-to-date, and accessable version of the JSU calendar, to inform you of events which you probably want to attend! The Jewish Electronic Calendar, or JEC, will be distributed to any Columbia affiliate who requests addition to the mailing list. All requests should be sent to mig@columbia.edu, or just mig, for those people on a cunix machine. Barnard College e-mail should be sent to: SMTPLINK-BC (link to Internet) mig Anyone may join the mailing list, and one may leave the list at any time. Please tell all your friends about this new service, especially those people who don't have easy access to ROLM phones or to the JSU office, such as off-campus residents. All of CC, SEAS, GS, and faculty are now eligible for free electronic mail accounts. Similarly, as of October 8, 1992, all Barnard College students and faculty are eligible for free e-mail accounts at Barnard. It is my hope that this new list will help to unite our diverse Jewish community, and inform people about events which they won't want to miss, even if the events were not scheduled far in advance, or well-posted. Starting on Thursday, October 8, 1992, the Shabbat announcements will be sent to everyone on the list. Any questions should be directed to: Meir Green e-mail mig@columbia.edu telephone 212-222-2718. Shabbat Shalom! Meir Green (mig@columbia.edu)
