SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 1993 * This Shabbos afternoon the Bikkur Cholim program will visit the Jewish patients at St. Lukes Hospital . If you are interested in going, please speak to Israel Kochin (Tall Blond Guy). * Mincha services will be held at 6:40 P.M. * CJC members - there will be Special Slichot services at the JTS at 12:00 midnight, they are being held at the Seminary. * Yavneh members - Special Slichot services will be held at the Old Broadway Synagogue at 12:30 A.M. Every Monday evening you are all invited to come to Israeli Folk Dancing in Earl Hall Auditorium. 7:30 is instruction and then from 8:30 until 11:00 there is open dancing. It is fun, it is different and it is free! The Jewish Home for The Aged is looking for someone to blow the shofar for High Holiday services. NOW FOR MORE DELIGHTFUL NEWS Each year a National Hillel offers the Haber Award to a few campuses who have offered exceptional programming. As many of you know, our A Cappella troupe, Pizmon, won the Haber Award last year for its concert to Eastern Europe. We are pleased and proud to announce that this year's Haber was won by our Wednesday Night Learn-In. Mazel Tov to the Coordinators of this Exceptional Program and to all of you who participated. Also, a large artscroll Chazan's siddur has been donated to the Beit Midrash by members of the Class of 1993. The Class of 93 has also initiated a seforim-binding-and-book-repair fund as its gift to the Beit Midrash. This is the first installment of the weekly Hartley Kosher Deli Shabbat Announcement - This week, back by popular demand, we will be serving for a limited time , the Spinner Special. We at the Deli wish you a Shabbat Shalom and Shanh Tova U'metukah and a B'tei Avon. Sukkot is just days asway, twenty to be exact. The Jewish Electronic Calendar may be published early this week because of Rosh Hashanah. Selichot is this Sunday morning after 12:00 midnight. Rosh Hashanah (the beginning of the Jewish year) will be on Wednesday night, Thursday, and Friday. Don't forget to notify your teachers in person and in writing of any Yom Tovim which conflict with their classes. Let them know right away from which classes you will be absent, and request advance notice of assignments and exams! Ask them to change the Yom Tov exam dates! Don't be afraid to ask for an alternate date or an extension. "Major religious holidays" are listed towards the front of your Columbia school Bulletin. Your professors are required by school policy to accomodate you in these matters of serious religious belief.
