The Jewish Electronic Calendar may be published early this week because of the Festival of Sukkot. It takes me time and energy to prepare the Calendar. Because of a lack of volunteers, the early Yom Tovim, schoolwork, and the absence of JSU Shabbat Announcements, I was forced to cancel publication of the last Jewish Electronic Calendar. Don't let this happen again! The Jewish Electronic Calendar needs YOU to help gather information, prepare, edit, and distribute the Calendar. If you would like to see something new in this publication, make it happen! Learn computer skills and help out your community. YOUR help is needed! Please email mig@columbia.edu or call 222-2718. Don't forget to notify your teachers in person and in writing of any Yom Tovim which conflict with their classes. Let them know right away from which classes you will be absent, and request advance notice of assignments and exams! Ask them to change the Yom Tov exam dates! Don't be afraid to ask for an alternate date or an extension. "Major religious holidays" are listed towards the front of your Columbia school Bulletin. Your professors are required by school policy to accomodate you in these matters of serious religious belief.
