2. CUID students who invited one guest must accompany your guest
to meals and Hakafot and they need a wristband for entrance.
Guests must come in person to Earl Hall on Monday Sept. 26, between 3:30
and 5:30pm for the Holy Wristband [:-)] to be placed on their arm.
3. Hakafot for Orthodox will be held on Sept. 27, 10:30 - 12:30pm in
MacIntosh, for Conservative at JTS at 8:30pm also on the 27th, and for
Reform at Stephen Wise Free Synagogue on Monday , Sept. 26 at 7:30pm.
I hope to meet many of you this year. Please volunteer to help
with this calendar (e-mail mig@columbia.edu). If there is no interest,
then the project will surely die by the time I graduate. :-)

JSU SHABBAT ANNOUNCEMENTS - September 23, 1994

Tonight there will be an Oneg Shabbat in John Jay Lounge at 9:30pm.
Please come!
Monday morning Hoshanah Rabah services will be at 6:30am.
Monday night, Shemini Atzeret, is the PIZMON Kickoff Concert. The concert
begins at 10:00 pm, in Feinberg Auditorium at JTS, 122nd St. and Broadway.
The Wednesday Night Learning Program will meet this Thursday at 7:30pm.
If the weather is nice Shabbat meals will be in the Succah. Please pick
up your meal in the regular dining area and take it to the Succah.
Otherwise, Shabbat meals will be in the south dining room in Hewitt.
Please note that there will not be any services on campus during the last
days of Sukkot. The Jewish Office has a schedule of services in the
neighboring synagogues. Stop by the Jewish Office for the information.
There are JSU T-Shirts on sale now at the Jewish Office.
Anyone interested in participating in JSU intramural basketball or
volleyball contact John Jacobs or Steve Furer.
If you would like to submit a Shalosh Seudot song for the upcoming song
sheet, see Yishai Lamburger or the Jewish Office.
There are still some rooms available at the Bayit, the Jewish communal
house. For info call the Jewish Office.
Come in to the Jewish Office for a free Jewish calendar, to buy a mezuzah
and to put your name on our mailing list (this applies to returning
students as well).
You can now call the Jewish Office voice mail anytime during the week to
find out the Parsha & Shabbat candle lighting time.

The Jewish Electronic Calendar (JEC) is a free weekly electronic schedule
of the events relevant to the Jewish community of Columbia University.
The Jewish Electronic Calendar and its e-mail list are separate from the
JSU, its calendars, mailing and membership lists. Although the JSU
Shabbat announcements are provided through the cooperation of the JSU
staff, the JEC is published for free as a public service to the Jewish
community, and receives no funding.
I welcome any volunteers, funding, and ideas about the future direction of
the Jewish Electronic Calendar. With more support, it might be possible
to prepare the calendar sooner, publish some copies on paper, offer
mailbox distribution, and include more information or, perhaps, a D'var
Torah for the week or an electronic mailing of Columbia Perspectives
magazine. Let me know what you think and, especially, if you can help
