       Hanukkah begins a week from this Sunday.

       The Raphael Society of Columbia University Health Science Campus is
       sponsoring our annual Chanukah celebration. There will be dinner, music
       and a candle lighting ceremony.  All are welcome and it is free of charge.
       It will be Wednesday, November 30, at 6 PM in the Recovery Room at Bard
       Hall.
       Menorahs and candles will be made availabe for anyone at the Health
       Science Campus at the Bard Hall Operations Desk. The cost is $1.

       JSU SHABBAT ANNOUNCEMENTS
       These announcements are read at JSU Shabbat services on Friday evening.

       Tonight's Oneg will be featuring Columbia's own Jewish a capella
       group - PIZMON - in the James Room in Barnard Hall at 9 pm. Refreshments
       will be served.
       
       Perspectives is here!  Pick up your copy in dorms and student buildings
       around campus.
       
       If you are interested in doing Bikur Cholim, visiting the sick, at St.
       Luke's Hospital on Shabbat afternoon.  Meet in Hewitt Dining Hall after
       lunch around 2pm.
       
       The Homeless lunch program cosponsored by AEPi, the JSU and Hewitt Dining
       Hall will meet Sunday at 12:30 in the faculty dining room in Hewitt to
       make and deliver lunches to the homeless.  Contact Howie Teitelman or Ari
       Moses for more information.
       
       This Sunday let's do brunch!  Free bagel brunch in Carman Hall at 11
       am, followed by a delightful trip to the Metropolitan Museum.  Meet at the
       CU gates at noon for this wonderful adventure.
       
       Rabbi Chaim Brovender will be speaking on the Talmud and the Torah in the
       Technological Age in 403 International Affairs this Sunday at 2 pm.

       Come to Ansche Chesed on Sunday for their Hanukah Arts Festival and
       Judaica Crafts Fair with live readings of short stories.  Festival runs

       Do you think about how you relate to Judaism?  Maybe a friend of yours
       does?  There is a new substantive forum in town.  Check it out this Monday
       at 7:30pm in the Dodge room, or contact Avi Orlow for more information.
       
       Join us this Tuesday at 12:30 pm for a talk by Zalman Shoval, chairman of
       the Likud Foreign Relations Department and Former Ambassador to the United
       States in 602 Hamilton.  Call the Jewish Office for more information.
       
       KOACH is beginning a tutoring program for people who want to learn how to
       read Torah, Haftorah, Siddur skills, or even to pick up ideas for giving a
       D'var Torah.  It will start on Wednesday at 7:30pm on the main level of
       Earl Hall.  Also, if interested in tutoring in this program there will be
       a sign up sheet in the Jewish office.
       
       Election applications for all positions will be due on Monday, Nov. 21st.
       The JSU is seeking people to help poster, forward and run election booths.
       
       On Monday the 28th, following Thanksgiving in 511 Hamilton at 8:30 pm, you
       can meet the candidates!  Come and see who is running for office in the
       JSU.
       
       Also in progress are plans for Columbia's first annual Yiddishkeit
       Festival.  This celebration of Yiddish culture will include music, drama,
       film, and food.  If interested in helping with this exciting event, please
       contact Sarah Benor or leave a note in the Yiddishkeit Festival Box in the
       Jewish Office.
       
       If you have not been receiving any JSU phone mail that means you're not
       on our list, please come in and fill out a card.  Also, in order to vote
       in JSU Elections, you must be on the list by this Monday, November 21st.
