    JSU SHABBAT ANNOUNCEMENTS - February 24, 1995 - come to the Jewish Office, 105 Earl Hall, for details

    For Yavneh: We are very pleased to welcome to Columbia our special guests from Yachad. We are very happy to have you here and hope you have a wonderful Shabbat with us.

    UJA is sponsoring tonights Oneg at 8:30pm in John Jay lounge where there will be speakers from the National Conference on Soviet Jewry discussing their experiences in the Former Soviet Union and their new lives in Israel.

    WomenÕs TÕfillah will be holding Shabbat services in the Dodge room beginning at 9:00 am with Kiddush to follow.

    If you are interested in doing Bikur Cholim, visiting the sick, at St. LukeÕs Hospital on Shabbat afternoon, meet in Hewitt Dining Hall after lunch around 2pm.

    The Jewish Collegiate Festival of the Performing Arts will be on Sunday Feb 26th in JTS Feinberg auditorium. DonÕt miss this unique performance of song, music, theater, and dance. Tickets available at the door. All welcome!

    Rabbi Avi Weiss will be speaking on Ahavat Yisrael at Mathilde Shechter this Sunday at 8:30 pm. Free food.

    Rabbi Brovender, Rosh Yeshiva of Midreshet Lindenbaum & Hamivtar, will be speaking on Monday night at 8:30 pm in 212 FBH.

    Enjoy milk and cookies while watching ÒCheersÓ at this TuesdayÕs study break in Carman lounge at 10:30pm.

    Join the WomenÕs Rosh Chodesh Group for a celebration of the month of Adar II on Tuesday, February 28th, at 8 pm in the JSU office. Free food, discussion, and spirituality.

    Hillel of NY is offering a summer internship program in Jewish communal service. Also, their are subsidies and scholarships available for IsraelBreak and other Israel programs. Deadline for applications is 3/15. Contact Rabbi Oren for details.

    Come to the JSU Pre-Purim Bash, including a traditional Chagigah with live music and a 90Õs Dance party with a DJ/MC on Thursday night March 2nd. Contact the Jewish Office, Noah Leibowitz or Natie Fox for more info.

    Next Shabbat will be dedicated to exploring ways of creating a pluralistic community. It will include a talk by Ari Goldman, former religion editor of the New York Times and a panel discussion with a diverse group of Rabbis.

    Vivi Deren, a Chassidic woman, will speak about the life of women in her community on Monday, March 6th at 7 pm in 212 FBH.

    There will be a Pizmon benefit concert on March 4th in the James room at Barnard Hall on 117th and Broadway. Please come!

    Thursday night March 9th Yavneh is sponsoring a Kol-Achai BeatAchon concert in Earl Hall at 8:45pm. DonÕt leave early for spring break and miss this spectacular show.

    A grad student from Israel who is doing a PhD in social psychology would like to interview Jewish students about their values and how they view the world. All it takes is 90 minutes for which you receive a stipend. Contact the Jewish Office.
