    Shabbat Evening (Friday) Summary

    PIZMON, Columbia's Jewish a cappella performance and outreach group will be holding our auditions this Sunday. If you can carry a tune and love to sing and reach out to Jewish communities in the NY area and around the world, you owe it to yourself your community, and G-d to try out! Don't worry about whether or not you will get in, just give it a try! This is the best time to try out as we are looking for lots of people with all vocal ranges.

    JSU SHABBAT ANNOUNCEMENTS - September 8, 1995 - come to the Jewish Office, 105 Earl Hall, for details

    There will be a male tisch tonight in 820 East Campus and a female tisch in 1006 East Campus. All welcome.

    Rabbi Sheer will be giving a class at 5pm in the Dodge room of Earl Hall. His topic will be "The Rosh Hashanah Machzor - According to the Approach of Rabbi Soloveitchik".

    Come learn about all the different JSU programs at the JSU Fair this Sunday on Hamilton Lawn from 11am-1pm.

    Join us for the JSU's ice cream study break this Tuesday at 10:30pm in Carman Lounge.

    Jewish Yoga? Sunday, Sept. 17th 7-9pm in the Dodge room of Earl hall to explore Rosh Hashanah liturgy and texts through yoga and body movement with Miriam Katz of the Aleph Foundation for Jewish renewal.

    Hold the date to have dinner with Rabbi Shira Millgram and explore the creative prayer book that her congregation compiled on Tuesday 9/19. Dinner is free and sign up in the Jewish Office.

    Anyone interested in helping with Shabbat dinner, Sukkot or Simchat Torah, contact Jill Jacobs or the Jewish Office.

    Anyone interested in planning social events, come to 1004 East Campus this Monday at 8:30pm or contact Tzvi Fisher or Steve Furer.

    If interested in coordinating Rosh Hashanah-O-Grams, contact Avi Orlow or the Jewish Office.

    The Learner's Service is looking for people to help run traditional explanatory services on campus for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. There will be an organizational meeting this Monday at 8:30pm in Earl Hall. For more info., contact Adina Greenberg or Dan iel Reifman.

    Please come to the Jewish Office in Earl hall for your free Jewish calendar, your neato JSU bookmark which lists all of our groups & a complete schedule for Shabbat Services this semester; to order a mezuzah for your room; to fill out your JSU members hip card, and to register for the scintillating Jewish Studies classes sponsored by the JSU, i.e.: Hebrew Language, Yiddish, Torah, Philosophy, Talmud, most of all will be starting this coming week. Also, outside the Jewish Office are postings of Hebrew S chool jobs, so if interested, come by.

    The plans for new JSU building will be posted in the Jewish Office. Check them out and let Rabbi Sheer know your feedback.

    Attention musicians: Uptown Klezmer, a professional Jewish band made up of mostly students is now holding auditions. If you play any instrument that can play Jewish Eastern European music, or if you can sing, contact Sarah Benor.

    Remember to reserve each Wednesday night from 8:30 to 9:30 to attend our famous Wednesday Night Learning Program. You pick any topic of Jewish interest and our fabulous committee gives you a study partner and free refreshments.

    Pick up meal Cards: 8:15pm.

    Shabbat Dinner: 8:30pm.

    Shabbat lunch will be at 12:30pm.

    Koach- 6:30pm Yavneh- 6:40pm - followed by Seudah Shlishit, the 3rd meal

    Maariv: 7:45pm

    Shabbat will end at: 7:57pm.
