    Thursday and Friday of next week are Rosh Chodesh Kislev. Thursday is also Thanksgiving.

    The big Pizmon Jewish a Capella benefit concert will be on December 9th (not 2nd) at 8:30 pm in Barnard Hall.

    Art Spiegelman, the Pulitzer Price winning author of MAUS, will be making a rare public appearance at the Chelsea Barnes & Noble [on 6th ave at 21st Street] on November 28 at 7:30pm. He will be discussing his CD-ROM, The Complete Maus, which features his graphic novel, historical information on the Holocaust, and his interviews with his father, a survivor of Auschwitz. He will also be signing copies of his new book, Narrative Corps.

    JSU SHABBAT ANNOUNCEMENTS

    There will be no services on campus tommorrow morning.

    Tonight's Oneg, sponsored by RJC will be in John Jay Lounge at 9pm. Free refreshments, all are welcome.

    The Women's Tefillah group will be having services tommorrow at 4:15pm in the Dodge room of Earl Hall.

    Elections for the JSU executive board will take place this Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Students who are already on the JSU list may vote at one of the polling places on campus as well as in the Jewish Office. Times and places will be posted on flyers. The following people are running for office:

    The JSU Elections Candidates Forum will be this Sunday at 4:30pm in the Dodge Room of Earl Hall. Be there.

    This Sunday from 10:30am-12:30 the JSU is cosponsoring with the Hindu Student Organization packing bag lunches for homeless people in the neighborhood. They will be meeting in 202 FBH. Any questions, contact Aaron Levy.

    The entire community is invited to Cong. Ramath Orah(110th, bet. B'dway & Amsterdam) for a Chlolent Kiddush tommorrow in honor of Shabbat Mevarchin. Services begin at 9am.

    The entire community is also invited to The Old Broadway Synagouge (125th and Old Broadway) tommorrow for the Ufruf of Jennifer Miller and Ezra Pollack. Kiddush following services. There will be a group meeting at 9am at the Columbia gates (116th and Broadway) to walk to The Old Broadway Synagouge.

    There is a NYSIPAC meeting at 7:30 pm in the Carman lounge this Sunday.

    There will be a Sephardic Dinner and speaker this Monday at 6:30pm in John Jay Lounge. You don't need to be Sephardic to attend. Contact the Jewish Office for more information.

    The JTS Theatre Group will be holding an organizational meeting for its spring Hebrew musical this Monday at 12:15pm. Also, a second round of auditions will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 29th. For details, contact JTS student life office.

    If you are interested in Israeli dance, come dance with Kalaniyot, the JSU's very own Israeli dance troup. There will be meetings every Monday night form 10-11pm in Studio 2 of Barnard Hall. Call Galit Kahn for more info.

    On Tuesday night Dr. Aviva Zornberg from Jerusalem will be speaking on "Through the Looking Glass: Women in the Exodus" at 7pm in Havemeyer. Her book will be on sale at a 40% discount for $25.

    There will not be a study break this Tuesday night.

    Gayava will be holding its weekly meeting this Tuesday at 8:30pm in the Jewish Office. Email gayava@columbia.edu or drop a note in the box in the Jewish office to make a confidential inquiry.

    If interested in coordinating a one man comedy show"A Baker's Minyan" by Joel Chasnoff December 7th to benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Fd., Contact Avi Orlow.

    The Bayit, Columbia's Jewish Student Residence, is now interviewing for next semester. Contact Ben-David Seligman for more details.

    Considering a trip to Israel this Winter? Join the UJA Winter Mission from December 24th through January 3rd or the Hillel winter trip. The entire cost is $850. Contact Rabbi Oren for details and an application which will be due before Thanksgiving.
