    JSU SHABBAT ANNOUNCEMENTS

    March 29, 1996 - come to the Jewish Office, 105 Earl Hall, for details

    Yavneh is very happy to welcome over 50 prospective students who are visiting with us this Shabbat. We hope you have a lovely Shabbat with us and if you have any questions, please ask any of the Yavneh leaders or Rabbi Sheer, our Jewish Chaplain.

    Tonight's Oneg, sponsored by the Beit Midrash and Yavneh, will be at 9:30pm in the Dodge room of Earl Hall. Tonight's program will include a discussion for prospective students.

    Come to Bikur Cholim, visiting the sick, at St. Lukes Hospital every Shabbat afternoon. Meet either in meal plan or at the Barnard Gates at 2pm. JTS students may meet at 113th & Amsterdam near the hospital entrance.

    Come see the Jewish Theater Ensemble's spring production of "All In the Timing". Performances are at 8pm this Saturday, Sunday and Monday in the basement of the West End Gate. For more information, contact Adeena Shames or John Brady.

    Pizmon will be having a free concert this Monday night at 9 pm in Feinberg auditorium at JTS. A live recording will be produced, so don't miss it!

    Gayava has weekly meetings at 8:30 PM on Tuesdays in the Jewish Office and will have an 8th night of Pesach seder, much like in Moroccan tradition. It will be laden with Jewish and gay themes. Contact Jason Klein through the Jewish office or email gayava@ columbia.edu for details.

    The JSU Senior Class is still accepting contributions for a senior class fund. Gifts may include chumashim, books, benchers, or an Israel scholarship fund. Please drop off contributions in the Jewish Office or contact Steve Furer.

    PASSOVER begins this Wednesday. Come to the Jewish Office if you would like to register for our campus community seder, which is $18, if you would like home hospitality or would like to invite a student for a seder. You must register by Monday at noon.

    Passover food will be available in the Barnard Dining Room from Sunday, March 31st through the end of the holiday. However, you must go to Barnard Dining Services by Monday to order your meals.

    Rabbi Sheer has written a guide to Passover which is available in the Jewish Office. This Shabbat he will be giving a special class on the hagaddah after morning services at 11:40am in the Schiff room and another seminar Shabbat afternoon regarding the L aws of Passover. This Monday and Tuesday he will be available in the Jewish Office for the sale of hametz from 11am - 4pm. The Jewish Office will be closed on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and there will be no services next Shabbat.

    Advisor applications for orientation will be availible on Monday in Jewish Office.

    Shabbat meal cards & dinner: 7:30pm
    Shabbat lunch will be at 12:30pm.
    Yavneh morning service: 9:00am, followed by Kiddush.
    Mincha:

    Koach- 5:30pm
    Yavneh- 5:40pm
    all followed by Seudah Shelishit, the third meal.

    Maariv: 6:55pm, Shabbat ends at 7:00pm.

    ALL ANNOUNCEMENTS MUST BE IN TO THE JEWISH OFFICE BY THURSDAY AT 5PM. NO LATE ANNOUNCEMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
