    Shabbat Announcements 11/07/97

    Tonight's Oneg sponsored by the Sephardic Club will be in Hartley Lounge at 9PM.

    Rabbi Charles Sheer will be giving a Chumash class following the Yavneh kiddush Shabbat morning in the Earl Hall Schiff Room (~11:30 AM).

    Yavneh invites everyone to a Melavah Malkah after Havdalah this Shabbat in the Earl Hall Auditorium.

    Next Shabbat will be Rabbi Kret's last Shabbat at the Old Broadway Synagogue. In his honor, Yavneh will be canceling all of its services next Shabbat. We will be going as a community to pray with him at 125th Street & Old Broadway. Contact Scott Susser or Jacob Kupietzky for details.

    Just a reminder, on Tuesday, November 18th at 8:00pm in the Low Library Rotunda is the Blauner Memorial Lecture, to be delivered by Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz. this will be a very special event, and everyone is encouraged to come. Rabbi Steinsaltz is the auther of over 30 books on the Bible, science, religion, and mysticism as well as a modern Hebrew translation of the Talmud. He is also the recipient of the prestigious Israel Prize for his contributions to Israel culture and education. Please don't miss this exciting evening.

    In commemoration of Kristallnacht (night of broken glass) there will be a screening of the award winning film "As if it were yesterday" this Sunday 11/9 at 6:30 PM in the Lehman Auditorium in Altschul Building on Barnard campus. A discussion with filmmak er Myriam Abramowicz will follow the screening.

    The JSU will hold a memorial service to mark the second anniversary of the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin on Monday, 11/10 at 7 PM in John Jay.

Want to apply for a selected position - Social/Outreach, Israel Action, Religious Life, Community Service, Public Relations or Cultural Education? Pick up an election packet in the Jewish Office. Packets due Tuesday, 11/11 at 12N.
    Don't Forget - ONLY JSU MEMBERS CAN VOTE IN ELECTIONS!!!!!! If you've filled out a "pink card" this year, you are a member. If not or if you're unsure, come to the Jewish Office and fill out a card by Monday, 11/10 at 5pm.
