    Shabbat Announcements 11/21/97

    Please note, that this week's Hewitt dinner (6pm) has been specially coordinated by the First Year Council. And tonight, there will be an Oneg sponsored by the Koach social committee at 9:00 p.m. in the Hartley Lounge.

    There is a Havurah Potluck dinner at 7:30pm tonight in Shapiro lounge.

    There is an RJC Potluck dinner tonight as well, please meet at the Schiff room, 6:45pm.

    The Jewish Meditation group is meeting on Fridays at 4pm in 1111, IAB.

    The 9:15 Saturday service will be followed by a Chumash class given by Rabbi Charles Sheer.

    We're delighted to announce the results of the JSU elections for 1997-98. Thank you to Tracy Kaplowitz, election commissioner and all those who assisted her. The positions for the 1997-98 board are: President, Evan Hochberg. Vice President, Chani Bloom . Treasurer, Robert Sherer. Community service, Aaron Dobish. Public Relations, Melissa Schwab. Congratulations to o ur new board and thank you to everybody involved in this process.

    To run for the Yavneh board, you must submit you election packet by 10am Tuesday morning. Packets are avalible from the Yavneh box in the Jewish Office.

    On Monday, December 1st, The first day we return back from Thanksgiving vacation, will be the third installment of our Young Jewish Author Series. Joshua Henkin will be reading from his book "Swimming Across The Hudson" at 7:30 pm in the Shapiro Lounge. Join us for a reading, question and answers with the author and refreshments.

    On December 2nd, Elie Wiesel will be at Barnard on behalf of the Rennert Professorship in Judaic Studies. The lecture will be held in the lower level of the McIntosh Student Center at 5:30 pm and will be followed by a reception. Everybody is invited to t his important event.

    Please note that RJC services are at 5:00 pm in the Schiff room this Friday evening and every Friday evening of the winter months.

    Israeli dancing every Monday evening from 7:30-11:30 PM.
