    § Attention all First Years!!! The JSU First Year Council will be holding it's first event. The Dating Game. Saturday November 14, from 8 to 10 pm in the Earl Hall Auditorium.

    § Join Bikur Cholim this Sunday at 2:45 pm in front of Barnard gates to visit the elderly at the Jewish Home for Aged on 106th street. Contact Matt Jacobs or Talia Swartz.

    § Come hear Rabbi Chaim Brovender, the Rosh yeshiva of Yeshivat Hamivtar & founder of Midreshet Lindenbaum. The lecture will be on Sunday at 8 pm in 405 IAB. It is open to both men and women.

    § Women's T'fillah shiur "A woman & Her Torah", with Beth Samuels. This Sunday at 9 pm in the Earl Hall Dodge Room.

    § Tone Deaf? Come joint the JSU and Sing Israeli Folk Songs at the first Kumzitz Sing In. Monday November 16 at 8:30 pm. Meet at the Steps of Earl Hall. Bring your sleeping bag or blanket, and don't forget your musical instruments!

    § Thanksgiving is coming up and there are lonely kids at St. Luke's. Help wish them a happy Thanksgiving as we make them cards at Tuesday's Studybreak. 9 pm in Wein Lounge.

    § You had no say in the 10 commandments, but now have your chance to shape the new 10 principals of Reform Judaism. Please Join Kesher for PIZZA and THEOLOGY; a provocative discussion of the Reform movement. Tuesday at 8 pm in 302 Fayerweather.

    § Would you like to spend time in Israel? Check out your options at the Israel Programs Fair. Wednesday November 18 from 5 to 7 pm in the Earl Hall Auditorium.

    § The first committee meeting for the 1999 Jewish Collegiate Festival of the Performing Arts will be held this Wednesday, November 18th at 8 pm in 609 Hamilton. All those interested in helping should attend. Refreshments will be served. If you are interested contact Ilan Glazer or Todd Surden.

    § ALICE! (Columbia University's health ed program), SDT & the Jewish office present "Alcohol: What your parents never told you" Wednesday November 18 at 7:15 pm in East Campus Lounge.

    § Come see the JTE's fall production of "The Dinning Room" by A.R. Gurney. Performances will be in the JTS Feinberg Auditorium on 122nd Street and Broadway on November 19, 21, & 22 at 8 pm. Tickets are $3 with CUID and $5 without.

    § Mark your calendars! Monday November 23rd at 10 pm is the 1st ever JSU Talent Show. If you've got talent, or even think you might have talent, sign up in the Jewish Office or Email ldm18.

    § JSU Seniors- There will be many programs for graduating seniors this year. Contact Becky Phillips or David Schach for more information.

    § Last call for the mission to Israel sponsored by United Jewish Appeal during winter break. We are delighted to announce that the Jewish Office has funds available for first and second years who have never been to Israel. It will depart on December 24th, returning January 3. The cost is $550. If you are interested 7 have not yet applied, come to the Jewish Office 1st thing Monday morning. The final deadline for applications is Tuesday.

    § JSU elections are coming. In order to vote you must be a JSU member. If you have not filled out a card please come to the Jewish Office this coming week.

    Just a reminder, election packets are due by November 17th in the Jewish Office. For more information contact the election commissioners, Ezra or Rachel.

    § Lilith Magazine, is seeking student interns. They are looking for applicants who are interested in Judaism, feminism, and journalism Stop by the Jewish office to get an application. Speak to Rabbi Rosenn if you have any questions.

    § Got Meat? The Hartley Kosher Deli does. Open Monday to Thursday 11-8 at 101 Hartley Hall. Remember, the more business the better!

    § Tifilin were found in a locker in Havermeyer Hall. If you are missing yours, please come to the Jewish Office and claim them.

    Update on the Kraft Center for Jewish Student Life
    As you know this past summer the construction of the Kraft Center for Jewish Student Life began at 115th street between Broadway and River Side Drive.
    Each week we will give you an update on the construction which is approximately one year. At the current time, excavation of the sight is being completed and the foundation is being poured. The steel structure will be erected immediately after, look for it to begin around December. We invite you to take a look and watch our home being built.

    This Shabbat Rabbi Sheer's Parsha class will not deal with the Chumash but on four texts dealing with Jewish medical ethics. The topics will be the obligation to heal, the right of privacy of medical knowledge, and the role of prayer in healing. His class will meet at 11:30 in the Schiff Room.
