But you can contribute to the Yavneh cookbook with your salad recipe. E-mail Gaby Rothberger your favorite recipe (or more than one if you have) for anything: kugel, soup, sweet potato pie, chicken, etc. It's Shabbos Made Easy and it'll be awesome.

j) Factoid of the Week!

This week’s factoid features SEAS Junior and Computer Science Major, Josh Poritz.

Josh’s love affair with machines stems from experiences very early in his childhood. At the young age of just 2 and a half, he already learned how to use a computer. On the day after his 3rd birthday, he managed to wander out of his house at 6am, with everyone in his house still fast asleep. He managed to open the garage and remove the bubble-mower, which he received as a gift the day before. He started to walk about 2 or 3 blocks around town for about 2 hours until a local teacher looked outside her window and saw a small child wandering around the street with cars honking at him from all directions. Since none of the cars actually ran over him, he decided machines were friendly to him. Since then, he has a patent in a special form of web-based imaging and has worked at a high-tech company since the summer after 9th grade. He is currently the webmaster for Yavneh, OCC, LionPac, Hillel, Just Peace, MaimoAlum, and Pizmon. Just last semester he spent 152 hours on a single programming assignment during which he didn’t leave the room except for bathroom breaks and to buy bagels from Butler, which he stashed in his closet. Mr. Poritz also knows about 12 different programming languages and is considering holding office hours since he has about 5-10 people contacting him about computer help.

His relations with living things aren’t on the same level as his bein-adam-l’machine. From ages 9-11 he got stung by a bee on three consecutive birthdays (ok, one of them was a yellow jacket, but close enough). Despite knowing 12 programming languages, he only knows English fluently. Lastly, until this past summer, he thought a metrosexual was a person attracted to subways.

k) Joke of the Week (Olympic theme)

As you may know, in a slalom race the skier must pass through about 20 "gates" in the fastest time. Well, it happened that Israel had the fastest slalom skier in the world and had great expectations for an Olympic gold medal.
Came the day of the final, the crowd waited in anticipation. The French champion sped down the course in 38 seconds. The Swiss in 38.7 seconds, the German in 37.8 seconds, the Italian in 38.1 seconds, and then came the turn of the Israeli...the crowd waited, and waited...SIX MINUTES!!!
"What happened to you?" screamed his trainer when the Israeli finally arrived.
Replied the exhausted Israeli: "Which of those bastards put a mezuzah on each gate?"

-------------------------------------------------

That’s all for this week! Shabbat Shalom!

Jeremy, Taryn, Shira, Gaby, and Eric
