a) Yavneh Chessed's Mission
This year, in addition to creating our own Chessed opportunities and programs, Yavneh Chesed would like to get Yavneh members more involved in Tzedek Hillel as well as CU community service programs. To start, we have
arranged for a team to start walking after Shabbos at next week's "Relay for Life" walk-a-thon(see below for more info).
Additionally, since Chesed is such an important way for our community to come together, we have set a goal of getting 100 Yavneh members involved in a Chesed program or event this semester. Please read on to learn about
some upcoming opportunities.

b) Books 4 Israel
Do you love Israel? Are you interested in enhancing the education of under-priveleged students in Israeli public schools? Through the Books for Israel Project, we will be collecting children's and young adult books and donating them to a cluster of schools in an Israeli community.
Books for Israel is a way for people who care to reach out and help in a direct, simple way. As of July 2005, over 41 tons of donated English literature and reference books have been delivered to over 200 of Israel's public schools from book drives launched by concerned synagogues, churches, schools, youth groups, community centers, and individual book donors throughout North America and England.
We'd like to get started now...
***PLEASE try to bring back a children's or young-adult book when you return from Spring Break. There will be a box in Kraft where you can drop off your books.
Questions? please contact Taryn ts2133@barnard.edu

c) Relay for Life
Relay For Life is a Columbia University Walk-a-thon to help raise money for Cancer Research. The Relay will be taking place on Saturday, March 25th from 12:00 PM - 3:00 AM. Students who wish to participate can form teams, and one member of each team must be walking at all times. Each
team member is expected to raise a donation of a suggested $100 from family and friends.
In order for Shomer Shabbos individuals to take part in this great event,
we have arranged for teams to either A) pre-pay or B) begin walking after
Shabbos. This is a great cause and a great way to get involved in a
University-wide initiative. If you are interested in joining a team or in
learning more about this event, please contact Sheri Adler
sa2160@barnard.edu or Taryn Schneider ts2133@barnard.edu.
If you're interested....PLEASE SIGN UP TODAY!!

d) Yachad Shabaton
We'd just like to thank everyone who helped out with the Yachad Shabaton.... whether it was housing guests, donating points to Shabbat meals, acting as an advisor, or even attending a meal or hanging out with Yachad members and advisors.... THANK YOU!! Your help and participation
made this Shabaton a huge success! We can't wait to do it again next year!
------------------------------------------------
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and enjoy the rest of your break!
