The upper Kern River is approx. 3 hours from L.A. and has
its origins in a cirque of High Southern Sierra peaks that
include the highest peak in California and the continental
U.S., Mt. Whitney @ 14,500 ft.

This year the snowpack which is protected by the high drainage
stands at 224% thanks to el nino.

We managed two runs in rented Daggar boats -- Catherine in a
Piedra and me in an Animas on the Headquarters Campground to
Riverside Park run of approx. 4 miles at 3,600cfs. The run
included one III+ (Powerhouse) and two III's (Ewings and Big Daddy)
and a fair amount of play stuff.
