About the Club

Established in 1991, the Columbia University Kung Fu Club has enriched the college experience of hundreds of students, many of whom have continued training at the Academy after graduation.

Wing Chun Kuen is the art that we study together in the club. Classes incorporate stretching, calisthenics, and strengthening exercises for the abdomen and upper body, in addition to Wing Chun theories and techniques.

In our opinion, it is unrealistic and irresponsible to practice self-defense techniques without also preparing the body against shock and injury through physical conditioning. Training for health and practicing with control serve the more general purpose of self-preservation.
