The Latino/a Law Students Association (LaLSA) sponsors academic, cultural, social and     community service activities to promote understanding of the Latino community.  We discuss issues that affect both the law school and larger Latino community.

Columbia’s LaLSA serves as a liaison between its members and the administration, the     general student body, alumni and other professionals in the legal field.  It also works to increase the number of Latino/a students and faculty at Columbia Law School and to ensure that students receive the necessary support to achieve academic and professional success.

Most of our activities focus on first-year students.  We offer many programs to ease transition to law school and the legal profession.  These programs include an adviser program in which upper-class students are paired with first-year students to provide advice and academic support, and a library stocked with course outlines, textbooks, and old exams for our members.  Throughout the year, we hold tutorials and review sessions on topics ranging from study tips to finding summer employment.

Giving back

LaLSA strives to provide a welcoming and nurturing environment to Columbia Law School     students through social, cultural, academic, and career opportunities.  As an organization, LaLSA actively strengthens the presence of Latinos in the legal profession, works to increase the attendance of Latino students at Columbia Law School, and supports the broader Latino community.
