our mission
Welcome to the Columbia environmental law community! ELS is a student organization that helps educate its members and the Columbia Law School community about environmental issues at CLS, locally, nationally, and internationally. ELS also helps provide information about careers in environmental law and opportunities to explore those options. In order to enrich students' understanding of the field of environmental law we bring environmental lawyers from government, public interest groups, and private law firms, to speak at panel discussions and informational lunches. ELS aims to promote improvements in environmental activities and policies of Columbia and the broader community as well.

Get involved in greening your new school and its community!
Work on ELS ’s joint project with West Harlem Environmental Action (WEACT) helping develop a Community Benefit Agreement for the proposed expansion of Columbia’s campus up into West Harlem. Help develop a proposal for improving the Columbia Law School recycling program.
