These guidelines apply when the need arises to
relocate Ethernet-connected equipment from one location to another,
either permanently or for an extended period (e.g., during major
renovation or construction). For temporary relocations necessitated,
e.g., by cleaning, re-carpeting, refurbishment or minor construction,
please see Guidelines
for Short Term PC Equipment Moves:
http://www.columbia.edu/cu/libraries/inside/lso/bulletins/1997-04.html
http://www.columbia.edu/cu/libraries/inside/forms/siteplan.html
(Use one siteplan per workstation cluster, unless there are a large number of moves.)
PLEASE NOTE: Workstations with Ethernet connections (MOSIS, MSWs, TSWs, RWSs, CD ROM LAN workstations, Library Netstations, etc.) cannot simply be moved from one ROLM jack/Ethernet conenction to another, as was more or less the case with dumb terminals. Ethernet connections require that network tables and configurations be changed by LSO; in addition, if the proposed move is to a non-library location, it must be coordinated with the network manager of that area to obtain proper addresses, etc.
