CUL Notebook Selection Criteria

Antivirus software
Weight under 7.5 pounds and a 56K modem (integrated if possible) are important if the laptop will be used extensively for travel. Smaller screen size will save weight and cost, but may make the machine less easy to use.

Commonly ordered peripherals include: extra battery, modular or external zip drive, spare mouse and/or keyboard, security device

Recommended maximum price: $3,000

Preferred laptop manufacturers include Dell, Gateway, Toshiba and IBM. Sony is known for ultra-portable and lightweight laptops.
