Help with Microsoft Software

When trying to understand a specialized feature or advanced topic in a Microsoft Office program like Word, Excel, or Powerpoint, try these options:

Program Help Files

If you need to find out about an advanced feature of one of the standard Microsoft products that come supplied on the Mosis workstation (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint), first try using the help system available within each of the programs.

Typically, such programs have several ways to find information: a Contents listing, an Index, a "Find" search feature, and in some cases an answer Wizard.

LSO staff are not specialists in the advanced features of most end-user programs, of course, so we may not be able to answer questions beyond those relating to very basic functionality.

For example, if you wanted to know how to create a histogram in Excel, you might click on Help, then Index, and type the term "histogram" in the empty box. The Help file will jump to the section on histograms and provide you with the appropriate information.

If you don't find anything in the Index section, try the Contents or Find functions.
