Is the CD "networkable?" or must title be run on stand-alone computer
If the vendor claims the title is Networkable, THE MOST IMPORTANT
THING TO ASK THE VENDOR IS:
Can Title be "cached" to and accessed from network hard disk.
PLEASE BE SURE TO SPECIFY that cached title will be seen from the workstations
as the following:
g:\public\xxxcdromstructure WHERE " xxxcdromstructure is the content
of the vendor's cd.. PLEASE BE SURE THE VENDOR UNDERSTANDS that we cache their cdrom to the g:\public directory. Please note to the vendor
that we have had titles where the vendor claims the cdrom could be cached
but it turned out that their cdrom had to be on a physical cdrom drive on
the server or the contents HAD TO BE SEEN AS g:\xxxcdromstructure. Please
be sure the vendor understands in environment our clients do not map
and "see" their cd as
G:\xxxxcdromstructure,
but map and "see" G:\public\xxxcdromstructure.
We are able to ROOT
map to G:\public\cdromstructure so that it appears to be
G:\xxxcdromstructure,
but we have had some titles where this did not work and we had to physically
mount the title on a server's cdrom drive. Because we have a limited number
of cdrom drives on file servers, we MUST cache our titles to the g:\public
directory.
*G: is the drive letter that we assign the cached
titles. If vendor requires a specific drive letter to be mapped, please
specify, i.e. M:\public\xxxcdromstructure
because vendor "hardcodes" the M: drive.
Can ALL components be installed on a server or must SOME components be
installed on the local workstation?
If the vendor says some components must be installed on client computers,
have vendors specify which components:
Registry Entries?
Sofware Components?
Ini Files?
Must any files be copied to the Windows and/or Windows System directories?
Information we need from parent when presented with a new Cdrom
Must present Documentation that title has been approved or have Bob Wolven
present the CD title to LSO
Must Have Technical Support Telephone Number and/or E-Mail for tech
support. PHONE # HIGHLY DESIRABLE
Specify the "parent" of the title
Specify Unlimited License or number of Concurrent Licenses
