A.  New Metadata Repository, Search and Retrieval Application, Interface

  1. Refine New Composite DS SQL Data Structure

    Refine the data model / SQL schema developed with the assistance of consultant, 3/2003. This schema accommodates both simple metadata and TEI-MS data.
  2. Specify TEI-MS Subset for DS.

    Identify subset of TEI-MS XML DTD that will be used by DS partners contributing narrative descriptive cataloging to the project.  Develop guidelines, XML schemas, templates, etc. to assist with coding / converting existing narrative descriptive cataloging.
  3. Create/Modify Host Database Structure to Accommodate New Schema

    Make needed additions or modifications to Host SQL database structure
  4. Develop Validation & Load Programs

    Develop programs to process both TEI-MS Subset cataloging and simple MS Access metadata, validate and load them into central SQL database.
  5. Convert & Load Existing TEI-MS Descriptive Cataloging

    Write & test load programs to convert existing DS metadata to new SQL schema

  6. Convert & Load Existing MS-Access Metadata

  7. Convert & Load DS Structural Metadata

    Ensure effective image and file naming & linkage scheme that will result in "persistent URLs" as well as accurate inventory and link management.  Convert and load structural metadata into new host database / repository system.
