Proposed Text on Connect Screen for ARTFL Main Database
(and others like it, which allow only limited
browsing around a single search hit)
PLEASE NOTE
The full text of this title is found in this database, but it is really designed for searching and study rather than simple reading.
In order to see any of the text of a given work, you must first search for a word that it contains, making sure to include the title or key title phrase in the box provided. Once you have displayed one of your search hits in context, you will be able to move to through a few adjacent contextual pages. However, you will be able to view only a few pages of text around any given hit word, and in the case of the few works still under original copyright (chiefly twentieth-century titles), you will be able to view only your search term surrounded by a few lines of context.
A partial solution to the browsing problem, for works that allow views of multiple pages of context, is to search for a very common word (e.g., lui). The set of hits will then usually allow you, in the context of a single search, to retrieve all of the text, although you will need to jump back to your result set each time you reach the browsing limit for any given hit..

Proposed Text on
Connect Screen for Databases such as
Voltaire
Electronique, which require a search to view the text,
but then permit
unlimited browsing of the surrounding text.

In order to see any of the text of a given work, you must first search for a word that it contains, making sure to include the title or key title phrase in the box provided. Once you have displayed one of your search hits in context, you will be able to browse in either direction through the entire text.
If your aim is to browse through the book from the beginning, you are urged to search for a very common word (e.g., lui). That way, your first search hit will probably take you to the first page, or at least very close to it.
