  Session #1: Initial Dreamweaver Orientation

  [75 minutes, one-on-one training, given by Stephen Davis]

  Trainee learns to:

  1. set up Dreamweaver preferences for the local LWEB/SWIFT environment
  2. set up & configure a Dreamweaver "site" that parallels the section of LibraryWeb or SWIFT that will be worked in
  3. use Dreamweaver's FTP client to upload, download and synchronize local & server files
  4. use the Properties Inspector
  5. use the "Design View" (WYSIWYG) interface to edit an existing document
  6. create and modify HTML tables
  7. insert an image into HTML document and adjust size & placement
  8. use the "Code Inspector" interface to view & tweak HTML source
  9. create valid 'root relative' URLs

Session #2: Intermediate Dreamweaver & Web Editing Skills

  [75 minutes, one-on-one training, given by Stephen Davis]

 Includes review of Session #1 skills.   In addition trainee learns to:

  1. apply CSS styles using the LibraryWeb / SWIFT stylesheets
  2. update existing documents to conform to HTML 4.01
  3. preview documents using a special "template" shell
  4. use Dreamweaver's search & replace tool on text, elements & attributes
  5. lookup & insert diacritics & special characters
  6. adjust text alignment, use indents, overall page layout
  7. create and manage ordered and unordered lists
  8. use 'server-side includes' in Dreamweaver (optional)
  9. use Linkscan to check for broken URLs (optional)

  • Create image maps in Dreamweaver
  • Set up & use Dreamweaver's document check-in feature
  • Create special "document-based" styles
  • Use the Dreamweaver "cleanup" features
  • Convert MS Word & MS Excel documents into editable HTML
  • "Site management" in Dreamweaver
