TLNF CODES FOR GC SEARCHING

Holdings Procedures BACKGROUND

The codes below were developed for use in processing older material. Their purpose is to indicate in different ways that the General Catalog (GC) has been searched

LOK
(Locations OK)-- all locations found on the card in GC have been transcribed into the online record and any cards found were left in the card catalog. Used for 1978 or earlier monographic imprints.
Usage: Added copy processing, transcribing from GC when the shelflist is a half-card, etc.
COK
(Continuation OK)--all locations found on the card in GC and associated volume holdings have been transcribed into the online record and any cards found were left in the card catalog. Used only for monographic continuations published 1987 or earlier.
Usage: Added volume processing.
no gc cards
GC has been searched and either no cards were found or all locations and any volume holdings have been transcribed into the online record. In addition, the complete card set, including shelflist cards, have been pulled from GC. There may or may not be cards in the departmental card catalogs.
Prior to September 1997, the code "gc cards pulled" was used. This code was globally changed but some CLIO records may still contain variants of this code. If found, change it to the new code.
Usage: Catalog maintenance, e.g., when a book or book set is transferred, reclassed or withdrawn and consequently the catalog card is inaccurate. Also used to indicate that GC has been searched but no cards were found. (Prior to September 1997, if GC lacked cards, LOK, COK or gc cards pulled codes were used.)
no osc cards
Starting in June 2000, MRP no longer refiles OSC cards pulled for recon. Full cataloging information is assumed to be in CLIO. PSC, departmental and GC cards may still be found in those card catalogs.
