BACKGROUND

In the summer of 1998, the old RLIN backlog was moved from Butler to an Offsite Storage facility. All books were barcoded as part of that process.

Follow the procedures below, if in resolving a duplicate record situation, you need to relink the RLIN record's item record to another CLIO record.

PROCEDURE

1. Follow standard maintenance procedures to determine which record to keep and which to delete or suppress. If the record kept is the RLIN record, follow standard procedures to merge holdings.

2. If the record kept is NOT the RLIN record, follow the special procedures below in addition to the standard procedures for merging holdings.
   1. Make a printout or note both the RLIN ID and the um=value.
   2. Code an 035 field with the RLIN ID
   3. Recode the RLIN copy statement exactly as it appears in the RLIN record. The word Call must have a capital C.
   4. Relink the item record as usual. Do not remove the temp location value.
   5. Delete and postdate the records as usual.
