GC SEARCHING

Pre-cataloging Procedures
  1. BACKGROUND

The General Catalog (GC) is searched in order to capture bibliographic and holdings information which is not yet represented in CLIO. As the various recon projects progress, the categories of materials that need to be searched in GC are decreasing. Follow the procedures in part II to determine whether to search the GC.

For more background information on GC searching, go to MPS GC Searching Procedures

  2. PROCEDURE

    1. If record is found in CLIO, process as usual. Do not search GC.

    2. If there is no record in CLIO:

      1. Search GC for non-Roman script monographs published 1978 or earlier.
