DELETING 035 FROM OCLC RECORDS

Record Creation Procedures

BACKGROUND:
On occasion an OCLC record may contain on 035 field with generic coding. If the same generic coding appears in the 035 of a record in CLIO, exporting the OCLC record with the 035 still in place will replace the CLIO record with potentially incorrect bibliographical information. For this reason, all 035 fields in OCLC records must be deleted in OCLC before they are exported into CLIO.

Generic code examples:

Procedure:
  1. Type the line number that precedes the 035 field (e.g. 3)
  2. Press F11 to send the record--["1 line(s) deleted" will display]
  3. Press F2 to reformat the record--[the 035 field should be gone]
  4. Click on the export button on the OCLC PASSPORT toolbar (the yellow numeral "1")
  5. To continue searching OCLC, input can;rem and press F11. Proceed to search next record.
