BACKGROUND
Selectors are currently assigning eight new locations for materials to be housed in non-circulating research reading rooms on the 5th and 6th floors of Butler Library. These selections will be made even before those rooms are open. However, we can already begin to code the new locations into the CLIO holdings. On an interim basis, the location codes for the research reading rooms listed below will temporarily generate BUTLSTAX on the spine label and the OPAC message display BUTLER STACKS (Non-Circulating).
Books designated for the new locations can be processed for Precat when no standard copy is available – these titles will be available for circulation as the glx,pre in the item record overrides the restrictions of the owning location.
As the reading rooms become ready, the material for these locations temporarily housed in Butler Stacks and Precat will be pulled, re-labeled and the OPAC message will be reset to the permanent display as shown in the table below:
