ACCESS LEVEL RECORDS FOR INTEGRATING RESOURCES
BACKGROUND
Columbia began to create access level records in July 2005.
Columbia in almost all instances follows guidelines and uses the same core
data set as the Library of Congress.

EXCEPTIONS
Columbia varies slightly from LC in the following areas:
- Columbia codes iraccess in 965 for identification purposes.
- Columbia uses cataloging copy so CUL access records may have
additional elements from copy.
- Columbia may provide a data element that LC
would not supply if it is deemed necessary for access or identification
locally. Columbia might not code a data element deemed mandatory by LC in
some situations.
- Columbia codes 245 b (subtitle) if necessary for identification.
- Columbia codes all 246 fields with indicators 13.
- Columbia does not code 250.
- Columbia codes a viewed on note in 500.
