I have a degree in Balkan studies from the University of Copenhagen where I
studied 19th and 20th century Balkan history as well as Greek, Turkish,
Bulgarian and, Macedonia languages. My Master thesis from 1992 titled
"Ethnic Rivalry and the Quest for Macedonia 1870-1913" dealt with Balkan
nationalist movement in the late Ottoman Empire. I am currently working on
a doctoral thesis at the the University of Bergen supported by the
Norwegian Research Council, which hopefully will be finished by the end of
1996. My subject is Greek-Turkish relations and the minority issue with
main emphasis on the situation of the "Muslim Minority" of Western Thrace -
Greece during the last 10-20 years.
