Teaching: Ottoman Empire and Modern Turkey

Research interests: Ottoman military, economic and social history
1450-1800; comparative study of Ottoman, Habsburg and Russian empires
(16-18th century); Muslim-Christian acculturation (especially military
and technological); Ottoman frontiers; Ottoman rule in Hungary and in
the Balkans (especially administration, taxation and demography);
Ottoman-European diplomatic relations (including spying, 
information-gathering and decision-making) in the early modern period.
