My work involves a study of the the development of Islamic 
disciplines in the early history of Islam, with a particular focus 
on al-Tabari.

In modern Islamic history, I am particularly interested in the 
religious developments in the Middle East with particular reference 
to modern developments in law, theology, politics, and general 
general religious attitudes.
