UNIVERSAL GAZETTEEH;

Comprising  a complete body of Geography,

Physical,   Political,   Statistical  and

Commercial.

The subscriber announced his intention about
twelve months ago, of publishing a new and
complete

Geographical Bictionary,

to be compiled from Cruttwell's Gazetteer, in
4 volumes 8vo, and the Edinburgh Gazetteer,
now printing. He had a copy of Cruttwell pre¬
pared for publication by an American editor, but
the Edinburgh Gazetteer being more comprehen¬
sive, and the European part of it brought down to
a later period, it was thought adviseableto incor¬
porate the two. This will be done, with large addi¬
tions as to the Geography of the United States.
The arrangements made, and still making by the
subscriber to obtain materials for the American
part of the work, are such as will render it the
most accurate and complete Gazetteer of our
country extant, and the following notice from
