Sir — The undersigned beg leave to present the subjoined re¬
port of the operations of the Labor Bureau during the past year.

1. Number of Immigrants Provided with Employment.

During the year employment was procured for 27,903 persons,
of whom 19,619 were nvales, and 8,384 females.

Included among the foregoing were 393 families, comprising
1,180 persons.

II. Character of the Employment Obtained.

Of the male immigrants employed, 15,205 were engaged for
agricultural and common labor, and 4,314 in the following other
calling's:
