Fanny Kemble in New York

In September, 18^2, Fanny Kemble and her actor-father arrived
in New York. She was the first really great actress that New
York had ever seen and the city took her to its heart. A glimpse
into the actress's own feelings is given by the page frovi her jour¬

charming New York, this time with readings from Shakespeare.
