Cathy A. Alexander has assisted in the organization
of the photography exhibition, "Devastation/Resur¬
rection: The South Bronx," and is currently at work
on a study on the use of photographs in social reform
efforts between 1890 and 1920.

David C. Hammack is Associate Professor of History
at the University of Houston and is the author of
Power and Society: Greater New York at the Turn of
the Century published by the Russell Sage Foundation.

Kenneth A. Lohf is Columbia's Librarian for Rare
Books and IVIanuscripts.
