C0I.I.ECT10N «F TAXES.

The State and County Ta,\rs are collected by the Receiver of
Taxes, at his office in the basement of the Mtw City Hall, in the
Park, in the rear of the City Hall.    Smith Dunning, Receiver.

The Taxes aie payable on the 34th day of February.

Any person may pay his taxes prior to the 1st day of January,
and in so doing is entitled to a discount therefiom, at the rate of 7
per cent, per annum, to be reckoned ficni the day ot pa) ment to the
first day of February. All taxes remaining unpaid on the 15th day of
February, ai-e chargeable with a penalty of one per cent, on the
amimnt of the ttix : if lemaining unpaid on the 1.5th of March, an
additional one per cent, making two per cent,: and if not paid be¬
fore the fiist day of April, will be chargeable with a penally of one
