Sir—The Board of Police of the Police Department of the City of New
York respectfully submits the following report of the transactions of the
Police Department and force for the year ending December 31, 1890 :
The Police Force.
The condition and more regular employment of the force is exhibited

In the foregoing table there are included one Sergeant, two Roundsmen
and forty-two Patrolmen detailed to the service of the Health Department;
also one Sergeant, two Roundsmen and fifty-seven Patrolmen detailed to
the service of the Department of Street Cleaning, pursuant to law.
During the past year the total force has been increased one hundred
and four, as appears by the table, which does not include eighteen men
