INTRODUCTION.
 

This is the forty-eightli volume of Wilson's Copartnership and
Corporation Directory. The present volume contains the names of
37,805 iirms, corporations, etc., an increase over last j'ear of 3,075
names.

The aim of this worli is to furnish to Lawyers, Banljs,
Banlvers, Brokers, Insurance Companies, Trust Companies, Mer¬
chants, Capitalists, and Investors, the following information, viz.:
To give the correct firm or corporate name, the names of the
mentbers of each firm, both general and special, where there are
limited firms the names of the special partners and amount of
special capital, the term of its duration ; the names of the various
Banks, Insiu-ance, and Trust Companies, their Capital, Ofiicers,
and Directors; the Capital, OiScers, and Directors of tlie numer¬
ous Manufacturing and Mercantile Companies and the name of the
State under whose laws they are chartered; the various Trade
names and the proprietors thereof; tlie names of the foreign
houses located in New Yoi"k, and in connection with each, the
location of the Home OfEce, the name of its New York repre¬
sentative, and the location of its New York Office; the whole ar"
ranged in alphabetical order, making it a work of easy compre¬
hension and great utility.

During the past two years other publications whose titles are
somewhat similar to the title of this work have been presented to
the public. A comparison will show that the similarity ceases with
the title, that the field is only fully and accurately covered by Trow's
Copartnership and Corporation Directory.

Knowing the great importance to lawyers and others who
patronize this work, of having the information contained therein
reliable and as complete as possible, the publishers have spared no
efforts to make it so; and with that end in view, only our most
experienced and tried canvassers have been employed, and in
thousands of cases the information has been verified by correspond¬
ence ; nevertheless it will not be found free from errors, but we
are confident that the number of such are reduced to the minimnin.
