This Web site was created in 2005 by Columbia University Digital Knowledge Ventures in collaboration with the C. V. Starr East Asian Library and the Columbia Libraries Digital Program Division.

Essays in the section "About Ling long" were written by Elizabeth LaCouture, Ph.D. candidate in modern Chinese history, Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures, Columbia University.

In 2005, the University of Heidelberg contributed a significant amount of new content to this site. Ling long page images from the University of Heidelberg are designated by an (h) next to the page number.

The original Ling Long site, launched in 1997, was coordinated by Janet Gertz, Director of Columbia's Preservation Division and created by Rob Cartolano of Columbia's Academic Information Systems (now part of Columbia University Information Technology) and Dr. Frances LaFleur of the Starr East Asian Library.  Microfilming and scanning of Columbia's content was managed by Columbia Libraries's Preservation Division; color scanning was carried out by the Preservation Division's Reprography Lab.
