Telnet (Text-based) CLIO
Telnet access to the CLIO online catalog is available for those requiring text-based access; e.g., to improve response time on a slow dial-up connection. Telnet access provides a limited set of CLIO features and is NOT recommended for most users.
The Telnet interface supplies only basic bibliographic information and does not support many of the features provided in the Web version of CLIO.
Connecting to Telnet CLIO
Using a web browser, enter the following URL into the address bar:
telnet://clio.cul.columbia.edu/
Using Telnet client software, connect to:
clio.cul.columbia.edu
How to Use Telnet CLIO
Help in using Telnet CLIO can be found once you are connected by typing ? at the command line of Telnet CLIO.
CLIO Functionality
Telent CLIO provides basic search and record display functions. Additional searching options and many patron empowerment features are available only in the web version, such as:
patron information, My Library Account
personal customization of searching features via My CLIO
link to Borrow-Direct
link to form for Offsite Requests
downloading, printing, and emailing options
link to LWEB, the main library gateway
Telnet CLIO not displaying properly?
1) go to Start / Run and enter telnet to open the telnet application
2) at the telnet prompt, type 'set term vt100' and enter
3) type 'q' and enter to quit the telnet application
The change should remain in effect unless it is changed again. If you don't have access to the Run dialog, you'd need to talk to the person who administers the workstation.
If you would like further assistance, Ask a Librarian for help.
