The Emblematic, the Literal & the Pictoral VIII.  The Wild West Travel Books

The heyday of gold-stamped binding coincided with the westward expansion of the United States and the exploration of North America's vast wilderness. Tales of frontier living and logging camps, the Gold Rush, Indian captivities --all these satisfied the growing reading public's taste for adventure. They also made for some sensational gold-stamped pictorial bindings.
