I have been studying in several African countries the mental health of
children who have traumatized due to family neglect, war, and natural
disaster. I have received funding for my work from the National Science
Foundation (a study of street children in Kenya), the Fulbright Commission
(training personnel to work with children in crisis in Swaziland), and
Dutch Government and the Free University of Amstersdam to work with
refugees in Ethiopia. 

I am a professor of Counselor Education at San Jose State University in
California. I will be returning to San Jose as of June 1st (as of yet only
an intermediary email (richards@isc.sjsu.edu)and will be leaving for
 Ethiopia in the middle of August.
