Recently a Fogarty International Center Fellow and pursued research on the
effects of adverse environments on emotional and behavioral development of
South African children. 

He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on research methods, African
American children and families and emotional development.  He directs the
University of Michigan Family Development Research Project. 

He is involved in a cross national research in South Africa and the United
States on Adversity and Social Development of children.

In addition, he is Director of the Program for Children, Families and
Communities.
